Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Partly. Considering the year and scale of the production, it's no surprise that Cameron's megahit was originally rendered in 2k. However, for the purposes of re-release in cinemas, the original files were completely re-mastered. Which means that they were upsampled (allegedly with the help of artificial intelligence, but we wouldn't look for much more than marketing spin), colour re-graded (which took HDR into account) and therefore, for the purposes of the restored premiere and subsequent UHD release, the true maximum was wrung from the original materials. So while we can't talk about native 4k, given the nature of the material we can get pretty close. Compared to the standard Blu-ray presentation, we can still expect only a relatively minor upgrade, as it already looks phenomenal. So the higher quality compression, HDR and expanded colour space consolidate the film's excellent transfer rather than pushing it to new heights. But it was already in those thanks to the SDR Blu-ray presentation. In other words, Avatar won't look any better, the remaster has done it good, but it's logically a few steps short of the absolute top. And the Dolby Atmos remix is the icing on the cake.
