Do I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. Villeneuve made the second Dune primarily for IMAX cinemas, which is why he logically adapted the shooting technology. The film was shot on large format digital cameras Arri Alexa 65 in IMAX modification. The enormous chips in these cameras are the equivalent of 65mm cinema film and can capture raw footage at a fantastic 6.5k resolution. Full post-production was then done in 4k, which is also the resolution achieved by the final master. Taking into account that the film was also straight colorized in Dolby Vision (among other deliverables), and thus shot and post-produced with HDR capabilities in mind, this combination of brightness, color and image resolution makes it possible to expect absolutely reference material. The only shame is that Villeneuve, unlike Nolan, is not releasing the IMAX versions on physical media - the film will be present on disc in the standard 2.39:1 aspect ratio instead of the "almost IMAX" 1.78:1. Even so, it's clear that the disc delivers an audiovisual orgy that makes the most of the technological possibilities of home theater, and thus may sound and look better than most standard theaters.
