4k REVIEW

Miloš Forman's eight-time Academy Award-winning masterpiece Amadeus (1984), shot on 35mm film largely by natural candlelight in historic Prague by cinematographer Miroslav Ondříček, finally returns in its acclaimed 160-minute Original Theatrical Cut. The Academy Film Archive and The Saul Zaentz Co. completed a new 4k restoration directly from the original 35mm camera negative.

Presented in native 4k with HDR-10 on a triple-layer BD-100 disc, the transfer offers a dramatic leap over the aging Director's Cut Blu-ray: period costume textures, warm candlelit highlights, and natural film grain look wonderfully organic alongside the restored DTS-HD MA 5.0 soundtrack.
