Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?
Yes. Michael Bay is in a league of his own, and because he places extreme demands on camera gear—putting it through absolute mayhem on set—manufacturers custom-build cameras specifically for him. As a result, Ambulance was shot on custom Red digital cameras bearing the model moniker "Bayhem": modified Red Weapon Helium and Red Komodo beasts. Why beasts? Because they capture raw footage at a mammoth 8K resolution (and 6K in the case of the Komodo). That is a staggering amount of visual information, laying a rock-solid foundation for a reference-grade image—especially since the entire film was finished in 4K, making the master used for this Ultra HD presentation true native 4K.
Nothing less than an absolute reference-grade spectacle can be expected from the Ultra HD version of Ambulance—not only does the film boast an outstanding technological foundation, but Michael Bay also shoots with extreme color and luminance contrasts that make the visuals even more striking. Alongside superb sharpness and fine detail rendering, you can count on a phenomenal HDR presentation, for which Bay's films are tailor-made—not to mention the audio track. All in all, Ambulance on UHDBD is not only an absolute reference disc, but it also holds true that on no other distribution platform—including movie theaters—has the film ever looked as good as it does on physical media, thanks to the combination of 4K and HDR, technologies out of reach for most cinemas.
