Yes. McQuarrie shot the sixth Mission: Impossible installment on traditional 35mm motion picture film. On top of that, key action sequences were captured on Panavision DXL cameras in open-matte mode at 8k resolution, allowing entire scenes to open up vertically to a taller aspect ratio in IMAX screenings. This shifting aspect ratio is preserved on home video as well, where the transition occurs not on a hard cut, but via a gradual expansion of the frame.

Both the 4k-scanned 35mm film footage and the 8k digital sequences came together on a 4k master during post-production, making the Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation truly native. Alongside superb fine detail and intact film grain definition, viewers can expect standout color reproduction, contrast, and tonal gradations courtesy of WCG and HDR, further topped off by a Dolby Vision layer.
