McQuarrie shot Rogue Nation on several types of cameras, both digital and analog. While the digital cameras captured at 3.4k and 6.5k resolutions, the entire post-production pipeline was completed in 2k, which is also the resolution of the final master. The transfer is therefore upsampled on Ultra HD Blu-ray. Even so, thanks to the high-resolution source elements, fine detail rendering is noticeably superior to the standard Blu-ray, aided by both the higher resolution and better compression. And as always, HDR and WCG are on board to elevate the image another level above the SDR presentation of standard Blu-ray.
