Rocky 4k | Steelbook | Limited Edition

Yes. John G. Avildsen and Sylvester Stallone's Academy Award-winning boxing drama was shot by cinematographer James Crabe on classic 35mm analog film (utilizing Panavision cameras and Garrett Brown's then-revolutionary Steadicam rig) and finished entirely photochemically. For this 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray release, MGM / Warner Bros. went back to the original 35mm camera negative (OCN) for a native 4k scan, meticulous restoration, and a new HDR-10 and Dolby Vision color grade housed on a dual-layer BD-66 disc. The new 4k master faithfully preserves the gritty, low-budget mid-1970s working-class Philadelphia aesthetic: organic film grain is resolved naturally without heavy-handed digital noise reduction (DNR), yielding a clear uptick in fine detail over the aging Blu-ray across worn gym walls, brick streets, fabrics, and the sweat and bruising of the fifteen-round finale against Apollo Creed. Dolby Vision and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) bring noticeably firmer black levels in dark exteriors, richer shadow delineation, and natural skin tones alongside vibrant primaries under the Spectrum arena lights.
