Saving Private Ryan

Yes. Spielberg's war classic was shot on a combination of several types of analog film stock, predominantly standard 35mm, with even its highly distinctive color palette achieved purely through photochemical processes—without any digital manipulation. It was therefore straightforward for Paramount to go back to the original negatives, have them cleaned, and create a new 4k scan to serve as a native 4k master for the Ultra HD Blu-ray. Virtually every international review praises its qualities in fine detail rendering, grain definition, and—surprisingly—color reproduction and contrast handling. Reviewers unanimously agree that Saving Private Ryan has never looked better, not even in theaters, and what is more, it will likely never look any better than it does on this disc.
