Do I get native 4k ULTRA HD?

4k REVIEW

Yes. Neil Marshall's claustrophobic horror masterpiece The Descent (2005) was shot by cinematographer Sam McCurdy on classic 35mm film (Arriflex 535B cameras), famously lit underground using practical headlamps, flares, and torches. For its anniversary Ultra HD Blu-ray release, the original 35mm camera negative underwent a brand-new 4k scan and restoration supervised by Neil Marshall. Housed on a high-capacity BD-100 disc in native 4k with HDR-10 and Dolby Vision, the format is a godsend for such a relentlessly dark film—Dolby Vision and generous bitrates keep the subterranean pitch-black shadows free of macroblocking and banding, while crimson flares, sickly green glowsticks, and blood-and-mud-caked close-ups cut through the darkness with visceral clarity.
