Unforgiven

Yes. To mark its 25th anniversary, Unforgiven was newly scanned from the original 35mm negatives in 4k resolution, from which a brand-new 4k master was created. The entire process was supervised by Eastwood and his team, who compared both the SDR and HDR grades against an original theatrical print to ensure the artistic intent remained fully intact. The 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray is therefore poised to deliver the definitive version of Unforgiven—faithful to its creative vision and in quality that will never be surpassed.

International reviews (1) praise the transfer precisely because it never misuses Ultra HD resolution or the wider color and dynamic range to artificially beautify the film, instead presenting it in its optimal form. Darker scenes are actually darker than on Blu-ray and do not differ dramatically in raw resolution. Where Ultra HD truly shines is in wide shots, sweeping landscapes, and exterior vistas, whose delineation is genuinely gorgeous. The UHDBD applies HDR with great restraint, typically using it sparingly to achieve a more realistic image (such as more naturally defined skin tones).
