Do I get Native 4k?

R.I.P.D. was created at a time when digital cinema was already standardized, but digital productions were still prevalent only in 2k, dominated by Arri Alexa digital cameras in one of their first incarnations. That is precisely the case with this film. The UHDBD presentation is thus upsampled. Yet we can still expect a standard upgrade over all previous transfers: Better compression and thanks to it a tighter image definition, maximum use of the 2k source versus downsampling to FullHD, an expanded colour palette and above all expanded brightness minima and maxima thanks to HDR. UHDBD makes the most of the source materials: the film never has and never will look better given the nature of the source materials.
