Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Battleship was shot on traditional analog motion picture film, though its post-production was naturally completed entirely in the digital domain. Given the complexity and sheer volume of VFX, it is no surprise that the master topped out at 2K resolution. For its Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation, Battleship is therefore upscaled and—alongside a modest boost in resolution—benefits from HDR, WCG, and a new audio remix.

International reviews praise the transfer primarily for its ability to convey the organic quality of the analog film stock. The video renders the filmic patina more faithfully and exhibits sharper fine detail rendering overall. The color palette is slightly more saturated and looks more realistic without compromising the original artistic intent. Although the image is slightly dimmer overall, the Ultra HD Blu-ray clearly surpasses how the film looked on the older format.
