Do I get native 4K Ultra HD?
Yes. Big Fish was originally shot on analog film, and although it was mastered from a 2K intermediate for its original release, it has now been freshly rescanned from the original 35mm negatives. The studio returned to those negatives, restored them, scanned them in 4K, performed minor repairs and grading, and created a brand-new native 4K master. Thanks to this, the Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation delivers the maximum possible quality from the source materials — offering not only the highest resolution to date but also an expanded color and brightness range. UHD, HDR, WCG, and HEVC compression together preserve the texture of the original 35mm film while presenting the movie in a quality that even surpasses its theatrical debut. In the case of Big Fish, special praise goes to the beautiful HDR and its combination with the extended brightness range, which suits the film perfectly and makes this UHD edition a truly stunning visual experience.
