Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Production of the VFX-heavy Dolittle was handled by Red Monstro 8K digital cameras, capturing footage—as the name implies—at an incredible 8K resolution. However, for the demanding digital post-production pipeline, the raw footage was downsampled to 2K, which is also the resolution of the final master. The UHDBD is therefore understandably upsampled. Generally speaking, though, upsampling material that was originally downsampled from such a high resolution can look virtually indistinguishable from native 4K. Alongside sharpness and fine detail rendering, the UHD presentation also benefits from high-quality compression and expanded luminance and color spaces via WCG and HDR. Given the current capabilities of digital projection and mastering, it is clear that the film didn't look this good even in theaters—and what's more, it will never look better than it does on UHDBD. This is therefore the definitive presentation of Dolittle.
