Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. Forrest Gump was shot on 35mm film before the era of digital intermediates, meaning it was finished photochemically with VFX sequences recorded directly back onto film stock, and its home video master was created in 4K. The film should therefore benefit from the higher resolution of its source elements, which international reviews confirm by praising the increased fine detail rendering in certain scenes. Unfortunately, the transfer is highly inconsistent, and those bright spots are overshadowed by weaker stretches where the image turns soft or struggles with grain management. Nor does the HDR grade live up to the technology's potential; according to international reviewers, Forrest Gump actually looks worse than the original Blu-ray in some scenes—while looking substantially better in others. This uneven transfer quality should be kept in mind, as the critical consensus is that Forrest Gump on UHDBD falls short of its full potential.
