The Mummy Returns (Steelbook)

The Mummy Returns was shot on classic 35mm motion picture film, which the studio restored and remastered to create the foundation for a 4k master. Compared to the standard Blu-ray, the Ultra HD Blu-ray transfer benefits from the increase in resolution, softening only during digital effects shots that were in all likelihood rendered at 2k and cut into the negative. Naturally, HDR and WCG also bring an enormous benefit. Echoing the reactions of international reviewers—which we can confirm after our own viewing—the transfer can be praised as an exceptionally accomplished effort with a stunning sense of fine detail rendering. At the same time, the UHDBD preserves the organic qualities of the original film stock, making this the likely definitive audiovisual presentation of a film that, given its source elements, will never look any better.
