Night of the Comet 4k | Limited Collector's Edition

Yes. Thom Eberhardt’s beloved 1984 post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror-comedy was shot by cinematographer Arthur Albert on classic 35mm film and finished photochemically without a digital intermediate. For this 88 Films release, the transfer is sourced from a 4k scan of the original 35mm camera negatives and presented on a triple-layer BD-100 disc with both HDR-10 and Dolby Vision. While the low-budget independent production naturally retains occasional period optical softness, the native 4k presentation delivers a marked upgrade in fine detail across deserted Los Angeles boulevards, department stores, and 1980s wardrobe textures, preserving healthy, organic film grain free of artificial sharpening. Best of all, HDR and WCG breathe vivid new life into the film’s signature crimson and orange-filtered skies, glowing neon signage, and deep nocturnal shadows—this 1980s cult favourite has never looked better on home video.
