Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. Sonic the Hedgehog was captured using Arri Alexa Mini and XT Plus digital cameras, whose 3.4K footage was finished onto a 4K master. The Ultra HD Blu-ray therefore benefits from native 4K, which—combined on disc with modern codecs, HDR, WCG, and UHD resolution—serves as the source for top-tier video whose technical quality surpasses even most theatrical projections. It is safe to say that Sonic has never looked better than on UHDBD, and because it extracts the maximum from the image masters, it never will in the future either.

Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 thrives on dynamic visuals, so it comes as no surprise that the filmmakers spared no technical expense. The film was shot on Arri Alexa Mini LF cameras capturing 4.5K raw footage, supplemented by drone-mounted Red Komodo cameras shooting 6K raw. Everything was subsequently brought together in a 4K post-production pipeline, resulting in a native 4K final master. The Ultra HD Blu-ray can therefore draw upon a wealth of visual information while flexing its muscles in HDR, which is abundant throughout this neon-drenched, colorful spectacle. On a capable home theater setup, Sonic is far more rewarding than in cinemas, where richly saturated specular highlights get dulled by low-contrast projection from aging digital projectors. The film has never looked better.

Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. The third Sonic adventure was shot under the supervision of Arri Alexa 35 digital cameras, which are among the newest models from this legendary company. As such, they are considered the pinnacle of current mainstream Hollywood production technology. The new "35" features a digital sensor equivalent in size to analog Super 35. It offers raw footage at a resolution of 4.6k, which is more than sufficient for subsequent native 4k post-production.

Given the nature of the film, which includes a significant number of fully CGI scenes, as well as the fact that it was graded for Dolby Vision projection, viewers can expect a visually perfect show. The image quality boasts top-notch sharpness and fine detail, color accuracy, and, in the case of the "animated" segments, exceptionally vibrant HDR. This already outstanding presentation is elevated to the level of highest visual quality.
