Star Trek VIII: First Contact 4k | Steelbook | 30th Anniversary

Yes. The Next Generation crew's most beloved feature film, Star Trek: First Contact, was shot analog in 1996 by director Jonathan Frakes and cinematographer Matthew F. Leonetti on 35mm film using Panavision anamorphic lenses and finished photochemically. For its 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation, Paramount scanned and restored the original 35mm camera negative in native 4k with Dolby Vision and HDR-10. Compared to the dated 2009 Blu-ray disc—which was notoriously plagued by digital noise reduction (DNR)—this native 4k transfer delivers a massive leap in fine detail across the Borg cybernetic implants, the Borg Queen, and the Enterprise-E interiors, alongside natural film grain and chilling contrast in the pitch-black corridors sliced by green Borg lasers.
