Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Over the past several years, Sony Pictures has made a point of finishing most of its productions in 4K. The Magnificent Seven, however, is one of the exceptions. Although the film was shot on 35mm film stock—which could have served as the source for a gorgeous 4K master—post-production was completed in 2K. The source material for the UHDBD therefore has a 2K resolution and is upscaled to Ultra HD.

Even so, international reviews are ecstatic, highlighting both the stunning sharpness and fine detail rendering—which surpass the already superb Blu-ray—and the spot-on color reproduction and gorgeous HDR dynamic range. Reviewers agree that the Ultra HD Blu-ray outperforms the standard Blu-ray release in every single respect, including audio: the UHD disc features a Dolby Atmos track not found on the Blu-ray.
