The Warriors 1979

Yes. Walter Hill's cult 1979 nocturnal thrill ride through New York City, The Warriors, was shot on location in real streets and subway stations by cinematographer Andrew Laszlo on 35mm analog film with Panavision cameras and finished entirely photochemically. For this release (featuring the 2005 Ultimate Director's Cut with comic-book transitions), Paramount returned to the original 35mm camera negatives, scanning them in 4k to create a brand-new native 4k master with Dolby Vision and HDR-10. The gritty nighttime imagery—rain-slicked asphalt, streetlights, subway graffiti, and the vivid vests of rival gangs—gets maximum mileage out of WCG and HDR: blacks are exemplarily deep, neon reflections gleam, and the fine textures of leather vests and faces paired with organic film grain vault The Warriors a full generation ahead of the old Blu-ray.
