Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. Blade premiered in 1998, so it should come as no surprise that it was shot on traditional 35 mm film stock and finished through an analog post-production process. Thanks to this, the studio was able to return to the original negatives, restore them, rescan them in 4K, and create a truly native 4K master. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray therefore surpasses not only the outdated Blu-ray presentation, but the film (also thanks to HDR and WCG) actually looks better than it did during its theatrical release. The UHDBD encode extracts the absolute maximum from the original materials — it’s safe to say the film has never looked better and likely never will.
