Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?
At the time the first Iron Man was made, finishing films in 4K was not yet standard practice, so it was to be expected that the new Ultra HD Blu-ray transfer comes from a 2K master upsampled for the UHD presentation. The same applies to the other two installments as well. Even so, we get a substantial upgrade over the aging Blu-ray transfers (with the first installment never having been released in the Czech Republic at all), both in terms of fine detail rendering and, above all, compression quality, color reproduction, and of course luminance range, which is dramatically improved thanks to the HDR layer. Overall, the UHDBD releases have been widely praised internationally as a major upgrade over the standard Blu-rays (not just visually, but also thanks to a significant audio upgrade in the form of new Dolby Atmos mixes), and given the limitations of the source material, it is clear that Iron Man will never look or sound any better.
