Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?

Howard's fierce racing drama was crafted with a style just as aggressive as the driving of its main protagonists. Leading the production were Arri Alexa digital cameras, which at the time were the industry standard used to shoot most mainstream films, capturing footage at a 2.8K resolution. These were complemented by RED cameras, where the resolution of the raw footage reached up to 5K. For certain action shots, Canon DSLR cameras were also utilized, though these only recorded in 1080p or 2K. The mix of these source materials was ultimately brought together for a 2K digital intermediate (DI). The new 4K transfer is therefore the result of upsampling; nevertheless, top-tier image definition and clarity can still be expected. The film relies heavily on powerful, dramatic visuals, which will stand out exceptionally well thanks to the inclusion of HDR. It is precisely due to this wide dynamic range that the Ultra HD Blu-ray can be considered the definitive version of the film to date—and since it extracts the absolute maximum from the source materials, it is safe to assume that Rush will never look better than this.
