Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Although Scorsese shot *Shutter Island* on analog film stock, specifically on 35 mm and even 65 mm film, the scanned material was ultimately finished in a 2K master. For the purposes of the UHDBD release, this master is therefore upsampled—though it should be noted that thanks to the 65 mm origin, even a 2K upscale can be significantly more beneficial than in other cases. As with all catalogue titles, the benefits come not only from the modest resolution boost but especially from more efficient compression and the advantages of WCG and HDR. This is especially important for a gloomy horror film immersed in shadows and darkness.
