One Battle After Another

Yes. Paul Thomas Anderson remains one of cinema's most devoted champions of classic celluloid, shooting his sweeping feature One Battle After Another with cinematographer Michael Bauman on horizontally fed 35mm VistaVision film (8 perforations per frame), which boasts more than twice the negative area of standard 35mm stock. This large-format negative yielded a native 4k master that, presented full-screen at 1.78:1 with HDR-10 on a triple-layer BD-100 disc, delivers utterly mesmerizing, organic filmic texture. VistaVision's fine grain structure, remarkable depth of field across sun-baked Californian exteriors, natural skin tones, and rich interplay between bright daylight and nocturnal shadows make this disc an authentic celebration for every devotee of real motion picture film.
