Gamer 4k | Limited Collector´s Edition

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's high-adrenaline sci-fi action thriller was shot by cinematographer Ekkehart Pollack as one of the very first Hollywood action features captured on pioneering Red One digital cameras in 4k (4.5k) raw resolution, though editorial post-production and visual effects were completed in 2k, capping the final Digital Intermediate (DI) at 2k. For this collector's edition, UK label 88 Films took a distinctive route by creating a brand-new 4k scan from the 35mm theatrical film-out recorded directly from the 2k DI, newly graded in both HDR-10 and Dolby Vision on a generous triple-layer BD-100 disc. Sourcing from the 35mm film-out lends an organic photochemical texture to the razor-sharp Red One footage, while high-bitrate HEVC compression on BD-100 handles the hyper-kinetic camerawork and rapid-fire editing without breakup. Above all, HDR and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) give Society's neon-drenched arenas, Slayers' concrete firefights, and deep blacks a punchy contrast and specular highlight detail far beyond the capabilities of the older Blu-ray or streaming.
