Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

The seventh installment in the Harry Potter series was shot on 35mm film, which was scanned for 2K digital post-production. For the Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation, the master was therefore upscaled from a lower resolution. Even so, the new transfer brings a noticeable improvement in detail reproduction and sharpness of fine detail rendering, particularly in textures and film grain. According to international reviews (1), however, it benefits most from HDR, which focuses on the lower end of the tonal scale. The UHD presentation dials back overall brightness and delves into deeper shades of black. While the transfer is darker and in places even more desaturated than on Blu-ray, it reportedly separates objects in luminance much more effectively (handling contrast more efficiently). The cinematography of the final entries in the series emphasizes darkness—and it appears the HDR pass for the UHDBD honors that artistic intent down to the last bit. In addition, the film has been newly remixed into DTS:X.
