Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Sony Pictures is one of the biggest champions of 4K. It therefore comes as something of a surprise that Inferno—which Ron Howard shot on Arri Alexa XT digital cameras at 3.4K resolution and Red Epic Dragon cameras at a monstrous 6K—was mastered only in 2K. The DI master is thus upscaled to UHD for the Ultra HD presentation. There is no reason to be disappointed, however, as the undisputed stars of this transfer are HDR and WCG—the wider luminance and color ranges. International reviews maintain that the UHDBD is a clear step up over the standard BD, not only thanks to the slight resolution bump, but primarily due to HDR and WCG, which deliver better-defined skin tones and achieve greater three-dimensionality through a deeper color palette. According to reviewers, the UHDBD is superior in every respect, making it easy to forget that it comes from "only" a 2K source.
