Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. De Palma’s spy classic was shot on 35mm film and finished photochemically. For the Ultra HD presentation, the studio newly scanned the original analog materials and created a fresh 4K master with HDR grading. Compared to the long-outdated and poorly received Blu-ray, international sources report a truly dramatic jump in quality.

Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
The third Mission: Impossible was also shot on 35mm film like the previous entries. However, unlike those, its post-production was done digitally from a 2K master. No higher-resolution copy exists, so the Ultra HD version uses an upsampled master. Still, one can expect a slight improvement in fine detail thanks to better compression. The true upgrade, however, comes from the wider color gamut and brightness range, which more accurately reflects the original film material’s dynamic contrast.

Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. Brad Bird shot the fourth Mission: Impossible on analog cameras using a combination of 35mm and 65mm (IMAX) film stock. These were scanned and post-produced in 4K, resulting in a final master in native 4K. The Ultra HD Blu-ray transfer is therefore sourced from native 4K and features WCG and HDR. This combination ensures that the film is presented at the highest possible quality, with the UHDBD format extracting virtually all available visual detail from the master.

Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
McQuarrie shot Rogue Nation using several types of cameras, both digital and analog. The digital ones captured footage in 3.4K and 6.5K resolutions. However, the entire post-production process was completed in 2K, which is also the resolution of the final master. Therefore, the Ultra HD Blu-ray features an upscaled transfer. Still, due to the quality of the source material, the level of detail could be significantly better than on the standard Blu-ray—thanks not only to the higher resolution, but also to improved compression. And as always, HDR with WCG is present, pushing the image another level above the SDR presentation of the standard Blu-ray.

Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. McQuarrie shot the sixth Mission: Impossible on film, specifically on 35mm stock. Key action sequences were additionally captured using Panavision DXL cameras in open matte mode at 8K resolution, allowing entire scenes to "expand" vertically during IMAX screenings due to the taller aspect ratio. This shifting aspect ratio is preserved on home media as well, where the transition doesn’t happen via a cut but through a gradual “expansion.”
Both the 35mm film scanned in 4K and the digitally shot 8K footage were combined during post-production into a 4K master, making the Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation native 4K. In addition to excellent detail rendering and preserved grain definition, the transfer also promises outstanding color fidelity, contrast, and tonal transitions thanks to WCG and HDR—further enhanced by the addition of a Dolby Vision layer.

Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. As is McQuarrie's custom with "impossible missions", the last double episode was shot on several different kinds of digital cameras, which complemented each other depending on which one was needed for the specifics of a particular scene. Thus, the state-of-the-art Sony CineAlta Venice worked in the quieter scenes, the Arri Alexa Mini LF in the more action-packed ones, and the Z CAM E2-F6 helped out in the most action-packed ones. Everything was recorded in 6k or 4.5k, which definitely gives the native 4k master something to draw from in terms of detail and sharpness. Only this time we can't count on the variable aspect ratio, which McQuarrie and editor Hamilton decided not to use because it would have been distracting. So this has not been transferred from IMAX. Even so, we can expect the ultimate 4k experience that almost no other distribution platform, from cinema to VoD, can match. UHDBD still remains the "unbeaten" presentation of this film.
