Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes—and in reference-grade form! The sequel to the legendary Top Gun was shot through the lenses of state-of-the-art camera technology. Leading the charge were the new Sony CineAlta Venice cameras in IMAX configuration, capturing and recording raw footage at 6K resolution. Complete post-production, including the rendering of the final master, was then carried out in 4K, ensuring that the native 4K master delivers the maximum possible amount of visual information to the Ultra HD Blu-ray disc.

Moreover, key action sequences in Top Gun: Maverick were shot in what we have come to call the "IMAX version"—filmed in open matte mode using the maximum possible sensor area so that the image expands vertically during IMAX screenings. This variable-aspect-ratio presentation is preserved on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, ensuring we don't lose any image information.

Given the caliber of the Sony Venice cameras, nothing less than an absolute reference-grade picture can be expected from this disc—both in terms of fine detail rendering, for which the native 4K master provides fertile ground, and in color and luminance gradations (with HDR present in both standard HDR10 and premium Dolby Vision). Alongside the visuals, you can also look forward to a truly phenomenal Dolby Atmos track that underscores the excellence of this release.
