Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?
Like most contemporary mainstream blockbusters, Overlord was shot on digital Arri Alexa Mini and SXT cameras, whose 2.8k and 3.4k raw footage was subsequently downsampled to 2k for post-production purposes. The distribution master is therefore upsampled for the Ultra HD presentation. However, given the visual nature of the film (dark night scenes), the presence of HDR is crucial, supported in Overlord's case by premium Dolby Vision alongside standard HDR-10. As we often argue, HDR is more important for high-quality visual presentation than the pixel count of the transfer.
