Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Several types of analog film formats—even with differing aspect ratios—were used in the making of First Man, ranging from 16mm and 35mm up to 65mm, their variety intended to evoke period authenticity and, in the case of 65mm, deliver a premium experience (analog IMAX 70mm). In post-production, however, all of them came together in a 2K master, meaning the Ultra HD transfer is subsequently upsampled. As we know, this is not a major issue, as fine detail rendering still improves thanks to both the slightly higher resolution and superior compression. The expanded color and, above all, luminance range also play a significant role—alongside standard HDR10, the film is graded in premium Dolby Vision.
