Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Yes. For its twenty-fifth anniversary, Spielberg's classic underwent a complete restoration and a new 4K scan of the original 35mm analog elements. Both processes were supervised by the legendary director himself, ensuring that the new Ultra HD transfer from the 4K master represents the film exactly as its creator intended, and that the HDR grade remains completely faithful to his artistic vision.

Alongside superior compression, improved fine detail rendering, and greater sharpness, the Ultra HD Blu-ray also enhances the image in terms of luminance. While HDR obviously cannot add color to a black-and-white film, it can deliver smoother luminance gradations free of banding. The transfer thus reaps the same benefits from HDR as any other film: deeper, richer blacks, finer tonal gradation, higher specular highlights, and the resulting dimensionality of the image, which thanks to modern technology feels more "alive" even in black and white.
