Do I get native 4K ULTRA HD?
Yes. The sequel to the horror hit Smile was shot using the Arri Alexa 65 digital camera. This camera, quite unusual for horror productions, is the digital equivalent of analog 65mm film, and its 6.5K recording provides more than enough image information for the subsequent 4K master. This master is therefore native, as is its transfer for the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation.
Given the characteristics of large-format digital capture, the visual quality is nothing short of the pinnacle of today’s already high standards. Add to that the unusual 2.00:1 aspect ratio, and you have a disc that is close to technical perfection.
