Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Due to financial, time, and technological demands, animated films are rendered almost exclusively in 2K. Unsurprisingly, the master for The Secret Life of Pets is also 2K, which was then upscaled to UHD for this Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation. It is therefore not a native Ultra HD transfer. International reviews (1) (2) describe it as only a modest step up in fine detail rendering and color differentiation over the already stellar Blu-ray. According to reviewers, HDR brings subtle improvements in contrast and saturation. Even so, it should be noted that reviews remain thoroughly enthusiastic, stating that the film looks fantastic on Ultra HD Blu-ray—as animated titles typically do.
