Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Alita was created through a blend of live-action footage, virtual environments, and performance capture—meaning the final image combines live actors in both practical and virtual sets interacting with digitally rendered characters driven by on-set performances. Although technically complex, this approach has become increasingly common in fantasy and sci-fi productions.

Rodriguez's sci-fi spectacle was shot on the Arri Alexa Mini and James Cameron's 3D Pace/Cameron Fusion Camera System. Regardless of their capture resolution, the entire post-production pipeline was completed in 2K, as finishing at any higher resolution would have been several times more demanding and expensive with minimal benefit to the final product. For the Ultra HD presentation, the resulting master is therefore upsampled. With a predominantly animated title, however, raw resolution is far less critical than the benefits brought by other technologies—namely the expanded color and luminance spaces of WCG and HDR.

The importance of these technologies to the filmmakers is underscored by the fact that Alita was the very first domestic 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release to include both premium Dolby Vision and HDR10+ alongside the base HDR10 layer (while also being the first 20th Century Fox title to feature Dolby Vision). This combination ensures that the UHDBD extracts the absolute maximum from the source material, making this home video release the definitive version of Alita—one that will never look better audiovisually.
