Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Peter Jackson shot his passion project on 35mm film, which was subsequently scanned into digital form so it could be augmented with a massive amount of digital effects rendered in 2K. Logically, the master itself was finished at that same resolution. For the Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation, the film is therefore upscaled. Even so, reviewers note a modest uptick in sharpness and fine detail rendering. Several reviews highlight the HDR work in particular, which lends the film more vibrant colors and greater photorealism—the nighttime scenes in New York are said to be especially gorgeous. Thanks to the wider color palette and luminance range, the digital effects look somewhat more realistic, though there are also scenes (the Brontosauruses) where they conversely look worse. The audio has been newly remixed into DTS:X.
