Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

The Spider-Man sequel was captured using two types of digital cameras: the Arri Alexa Mini with native 3.8k recording and the Red Ranger 8k VV recording natively in 8k. While the raw footage looks fantastic, the heavy reliance on digital visual effects meant that post-production was completed at a 2k resolution, which served as the master. Consequently, the master is upsampled for the Ultra HD presentation. Nevertheless, given the capture quality and CGI-heavy scenes, a noticeable increase in detail over the standard Blu-ray is evident. This improvement is driven by the more efficient h.265 compression (nearly twice as effective as the Blu-ray's h.264) and the resolution gap. The most impactful upgrades stem from the Wide Color Gamut (WCG) and High Dynamic Range (HDR). For a visually vibrant title like Spider-Man, HDR provides a dramatic leap over standard SDR Blu-ray video. The three-dimensional HDR grading on this Marvel blockbuster is further enhanced by Dolby Vision and immersive Dolby Atmos audio—neither of which is available on the standard Blu-ray disc. As a result, Spidey looks and sounds substantially better on UHDBD, delivering a presentation that surpasses even the original theatrical experience.
