Will I get native 4k Ultra HD?

Van Helsing was shot on classic 35mm film, though its entire post-production—including its heavy digital effects workload—was completed in 2K, meaning the UHDBD was sourced from a 2K master and subsequently upsampled. Even so, the transfer benefits from a dramatic increase in detail reproduction over the aging Blu-ray, which falls well short of modern standards. Alongside superior fine detail rendering and overall sharpness—owed primarily to better compression and handling of the source material—the UHDBD offers improved color and light performance, advantages that for such a dark title are largely more important than sharpness alone. It is WCG and HDR that push the new transfer beyond the capabilities not only of the Blu-ray format, but of the original theatrical prints as well, meaning Van Helsing has never looked better.
