Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice IMAX remaster | Extended Edition

Yes. Batman v Superman was captured across a diverse mix of film stocks and camera systems: 16mm, predominantly 35mm, and 65mm analog film, supplemented by a small amount of 3.4k digital footage plus several true IMAX 70mm sequences. Crucially, all of these elements came together on a native 4k master, allowing the Ultra HD Blu-ray to draw upon the maximum possible amount of visual detail.

For this reissued Ultimate Edition, BvS was completely remastered, introducing several major upgrades over the original UHD disc: the film received a revised color grade that – paired with WCG (wide color gamut) – delivers more accurate, slightly richer, and more natural colors; compression encoding has been substantially improved for crisper sharpness, finer detail, and cleaner grain reproduction; and best of all, the feature is presented in its IMAX edition, restoring the sequences shot on IMAX cameras to their full native 1.43:1 aspect ratio with noticeably greater vertical image area and superior clarity.

Compared side by side with the first-wave UHDBD release – which, remember, arrived during the format's infancy before authoring houses had mastered its full capabilities – this remaster represents a striking visual leap: the image is sharper, colors are more balanced and lifelike, HDR packs greater punch while retaining subtler tonal nuances, and the encode handles bit-starved action scenes far more cleanly. BvS looks miles better in this updated version, with the full-frame IMAX sequences serving as the icing on the cake.
